I just love these old historic sites. I imagine myself 400 years ago in these places, what life was like. Imagining the workers who had to build these huge walls and fortifications, building something that has lasted over four centuries to educate us, we who can’t seem to tear ourselves away from cell phones and the internet. I wonder what we have built that will survive that long. It sure isn’t Facebook.

Once again, the amazing tree branches and the lichen on the rock did it for me. I purposefully included the picnic table — something I’d normally try to hide when composing — because I thought it added something a little modern to a shot full of old things.
